Welcome toKindergarten Dear Kindergarten Families, Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to kindergarten! This is an exciting time for your child and I am looking forward to an exhilarating, fun-filled year with your child. I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Martha Garcia-Perez. I am beginning my eighth year as a kindergarten teacher at Lasselle Elementary. Prior to this, I bounced back and forth from teaching high school English to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders and kindergarten at a private school. I am a local. I live in Moreno Valley - so say hello if you ever run into me while out shopping or dining. Val Verde is my home. I grew up in the Val Verde Unified School District and graduated from Rancho Verde High School in 1996. I then went on to attend the University of California at Berkeley and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature and Education in 2000. After graduating from Berkeley, I came back home where I completed my teaching credential at Chapman University in 2002. Please review the kindergarten handbook, which will tell you everything you've always wanted to know (and more!) about our classroom policies and procedures. You may want to refer to this throughout the school year. If you have any questions or concerns, you may call me at school (951-490-0350 ext. 53702) or e-mail me at mgarciaperez@valverde.edu. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's life. Together, we will make this a wonderful school year. Sincerely, Mrs. Garcia-Perez
