![]() Welcome to El Potrero's G.A.T.E. (Gifted And Talented Education) Web Site!
Fieldtrip: Thursday, November 6, 2008 Edward Dean Museum (Chaperones Needed...contact your child's teacher.) We are so excited to tell you about this year's After School G.A.T.E. Enrichment program! This will be on Thursday afternoons from 2:45 P.M. to 3:45 P.M. starting on August 25th! Please report to Mr. Ho's classroom #20 with your signed permission slip. (Note: we are now meeting in the computer lab, room #9). Each trimester will have a different theme based on current events in our local and international communities. Our students will both study independently and work in collaborative groups to enrich their learning in the particular theme for that trimester. Mr. Ho will conduct the G.A.T.E. Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies for Trimester I. The students will choose their own country (other than the United States). Then, they will research and present their country's history, cultural background, global contribution and of course...how well their country competed in the XXIX (29th) Olympics recently held in China. Mrs. Singh will be the students' personal health dietician during Trimest II. The students will study about how healthy diets and exercise will affect a person's body...both emotionally and physically. Mrs. Randolph will conclude this year's after school G.A.T.E. enrichment activities by having the students "Go Green!" for Trimester III. The students will discuss how humans can positively affect our environment with conscientious and collective efforts to beautify and purify our human "footprints" among Mother Nature. Several fieldtrips are also being planned to enhance the students learning. Please contact your child's G.A.T.E. teacher in order to sign up as a Parent Volunteer and/or Chaperone! Please contact us if you have any comments and/or questions. Thank you, Mr. Ho, Mrs. Randolph & Mrs. Singh (Facilitator) El Potrero G.A.T.E. Educators Send an email to:
