Olivier Wong

Principal

I was born & raised in London, England and I am the youngest of 3 boys.  My parents moved to England in the 1960's from the Republic of Mauritius, a former French & British colony, French is the first language in my family.  I went to a charity aided convent school run by Dominican nuns in London, and having gone through the British education system I secured a position to study a BA Law and History at the University Of Leicester in England for four years.

I continued my studies in England earning a Post Graduate Diploma in European Law.  I also hold an MA Social Sciences and an MA Educational Administration.  I have lived in Southern California for 12 years and I am married with three beautiful boys.

Assistant Principal - Guidance & Counseling

I am in my third year at Rancho Verde HS and in my 15th year with the district.  Since 1995 I have served this wonderful community as a teacher on special assignment (TOSA), a Social Science/AVID teacher and an Assistant Principal at the middle school level.  Interestingly, while a TOSA in 1996 I was assigned to Rancho Verde HS and worked closely with many of the students and their families for several years.  I feel I have come full circle.  I received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, Teaching Credential from Chapman University and an M.A. in Education Administration from the University of Redlands.  I have been happily married to Veronica for 15 years and we have two wonderful kids, Tonanztin, 12 and Amilcar, 10.

Originally from Indiana where I graduated with a BA in Geology from Hanover College. I then moved on to Ball State University, earning an MA in Natural Resources. Upon graduation from Ball State I took a position with Dresser Atlas in the oil fields of Oklahoma, working as a geological engineer for the company for the next 5 years. Following this experience I moved to California and earned my teaching certificate from UC Irvine and took a science teaching position at Valley HS in Santa Ana. During my 14 years at Valley I taught Science and P.E., with additional assignments as a football, head basketball, and baseball coach. In 2000 I came to Rancho Verde as a science teacher and a few years later became the Athletic Director. My wife Lois and I live in Hemet and have two children, Jacob 33 and Jessica 28, who both live in the Phoenix area.

Leonard Kahn

Assistant Principal - Attendance and Discipline

I came to education, the Val Verde Unified School District, and Rancho Verde High School in the same year.  2001 was the beginning of my odyssey, and I am happy to say that all my years since have been spent in this wonderful district. I grew up in a very rural (and beautiful) part of the state of Virginia. I graduated high school there, and I then received my BA from the University of Virginia. I spent almost two decades of my life trading in the canyons of the credit and derivative side of the capital markets or what many may simply know as Wall Street. While careers on Wall Street and in education do not seem even remotely connected, I can tell you that I draw on my diverse life experiences to serve RVHS students and their families daily.

I moved to San Francisco in 1991 and Southern California in 1996. In addition to a BA in English from the University of Virginia, I have earned teaching and administrative credentials from National University ; a MA in Education from National University; a School Business Certificate from the University of Southern California; and the requirements for a Chief Business Official's Certificate from the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO). In the VVUSD,  I have coached soccer, golf, and tennis; served as Department Chair and Site Representative; held administrative positions at the middle school and high school levels; and I even helped out in the business department at the VVUSD District Office prior to returning to "the Ranch".  My wife Jillian is a native Southern Californian, and we have a son (10) and daughter (7), both of whom are the lights of our lives.
