What an exciting time to be at Val Verde High School - Educational Options Center. I want to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new and returning student s who are attend ing classes in of our beautiful state-of-the-art high school. I am eager to fulfill the vision held by our superintendent , who is personally committed to providing our school community with a first-class educational options environmen t that is designed to motivate and encourage our students to come to school , b y offering them unique opportunities to make informed choices from a variety of academic and career techn ical courses that best meets their individualized needs .

Two prominent examples of Val Verde High School's commitment to alternative educational excellence is our national and international award winning Video Productions/Newscast program and our highly successful Graphics Manufacturing courses. Our new facility is equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms, a spacious library, gymnasium, Video Production Studio, Graphic Arts school enterprise business , as well as a variety of other career-prep courses such as Medical Occupations, Pharmacy Clerk, Medical Front Office, First Responders, Work Experience, and a Cal-Safe pregnant minors program. All students attending Val Verde High School are enrolled in a School-to-Career class that allows them to develop a personal career portfolio that may be useful when interviewing for a position in the workforce. Finally, o ur newly launched CAHSEE Preparation Course s helps our students prepare for success on the CAHSEE exam.

Val Verde High School is committed to offering a rigorous California Standards Based Curriculum and a first-class educational program, earning noble recognition by the California Department of Education as a California State Model Continuation High School , as well as a full six-year WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation.

A quality Special Education program provides both special day class and resource specialist services. Students have access to a successful WorkAbility program that offers paid job placement for students with special needs. Flexible scheduling options enable students to earn credits at an accelerated rate by enrolling in additional classes or concurrently enrolling in the Independent Study program that is operated on our school site.

Val Verde High School believes that students should meet or exceed grade-level standards and has adopted and implemented a variety of accountability measures that are utilized to assess learning, inform and modify instruction, and communicate student progress. The focused educational direction, positive atmosphere, and spirit of Val Verde High School helps to foster mutual respect and personal growth. Few school districts offer the abundance of educational opportunities that are available at VVHS. Students are strongly urged to take full advantage of our many fine programs!
