Esperanza Arce, Principal, Vista Verde Middle School

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

It is an honor and privilege to welcome you to our Cougar home, Vista Verde Middle School! Our students, teachers, staff, and parents have done an exceptional job showing improvement every year and it is exciting to see how their hard work has made Vista Verde one of the most successful middle schools in the area. This is evident, not only through our API of 837, but by the exceptional programs at Vista Verde, an extremely dedicated hard-working staff, and strong parent involvement and support.

Every student is important at Vista Verde and it is our mission to show our students how much we care about their present education, and their future success. Our teachers and staff have been working hard to create a college-going culture at Vista Verde, and just recently our school was selected to participate in Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP); VVMS is 1 of 48 schools in the entire state of California to be chosen. Furthermore, it is our priority to provide English Learners and Special Education students with every opportunity to be, not only high school-ready, but college-ready. Also, VVMS is in its second year of receiving "Schools to Watch" state and national recognition. We are working hard to become an AVID demonstration site and incorporating a "Jr-Scholars" Program for our Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) students. Additionally, we have a strong partnership with our parent organizations which include Parent Teacher Organization (PTO); English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC); School Site Council (SSC); Families Uniting for Student Success (FUSS), an AVID parent organization, Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE), a national parenting organization sponsored through GEAR UP; and overall parent volunteers. It is our goal to continue this partnership and incorporate a Parent Resource Center and a variety of parent/student symposiums and workshops.

We are very excited about the myriad of things happening at VVMS and we invite you to visit us and witness the Cougar experience where our students PROWL (Positively Responding to Others While Learning).
