Dear Parents,

WELCOME! We are looking forward to a brand new year.  Second grade is an exciting time for students, as we embark on a new journey.  Your child will learn new and wonderful things throughout the year.

It is our desire to establish an environment that provides your child with a safe and successful place to learn. Rules create systems and organization that encourage maximum learning. The rules are posted and explained to the class. The behavior system that we use is based on a card system. Students will change a colored card for each rule that is broken. Each colored card has a specific consequence.

Rules and consequences are only part of our classroom management.  The students will also have the opportunity to earn rewards throughout the year. 

Students that meet the criteria listed below

will receive rewards:

  1. Behavior: By following the classroom rules all week.

  2. Attendance: Being at school and on time all week.

  3. Homework: Returning all homework on time for the week.

  4. Teamwork: Which group/row received the most points   for the week?

We will be assigning weekly homework for your child.  The homework is the responsibility of your child.  A cover sheet will accompany your child’s homework. We do require your signature on the cover sheet after you have reviewed the homework with your child.  The new packets will go home each Thursday and need to be returned on the following Wednesday.  Students that fail to return assignments will be required to complete the work at school. We appreciate your cooperation, as we must work together to ensure your child’s success.

Our Back to School Night will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. We will be looking forward to meeting you and to a wonderfully exciting school year with your child.
